I met Sarah when I was in high school, and she was a coach at my school. She started a Bible study with me and some of my friends, and we all looked up to Sarah as a role model. Now, after several military relocations Sarah is back in Ohio… and with son this time!

Sarah and her husband own a farm, complete with cows, cats, and one very very furry dog. To celebrate her son Brody’s 18 month milestone, we took some photos of him playing on the farm.

Here are some of the highlights:

One thing I fail at on a perpetual basis is pairing wine with food. Mike and I once paired Shiraz with a lemon chicken dish… we kept the chicken and dumped the wine.

Regardless, I enjoy pairing fruit with static objects. I like the tongue in cheek effect and the bright colors found in nature. You can see my pear and ring shot that I took last summer here.

Now, I introduce my latest attempt of delicious ring and fruit pairing:

Although I obviously don’t wear it on my finger yet, I included my wedding band in these photos. Mike bought my wedding band when he purchased my engagement ring, and I enjoy seeing the two of them together.

And, I couldn’t leave out our wedding date… 469 days to go!

Does this salad dressing server not remind you of Aladdin’s lamp?

Every time I watch the Food Network I get inspired to photograph amazing looking food. Below is a photo of  a special kind of cheesecake.

Before dinner was served, laughter could be heard throughout the social room, where friends were sharing stories and the excitement of the evening was evident.

To end the evening, DJ Greg Weaver played a variety of music as everyone showed off their dance steps.

Red roses and Valentine’s Day. I’m not sure what man first connected these two staples of love, but hats off to him.

Sometimes Michael will show up at the front door of my apartment with a dozen roses in his hand. At which point, I get very excited. Not excited like, “So glad I didn’t get caught running the stoplight,” but more along the lines of  ”I spotted the flowers in his hand from my upstairs window and ran down the stairs so fast I tripped over my feet.”

I remember the first time Michael brought me flowers. I had just moved into my apartment and boxes were everywhere. He walked up to the door with a bottle of wine and red roses. In fact, I still have a picture of them:

Red roses have always signified a special occasion for Mike and I. Most frequently anniversaries, graduations, and sometimes just being able to see each other. We are so thankful for airplanes, Skype, and modern technology to help us connect while we are stationed 4,000 miles apart.

Regardless of the day or reason, Mike does a great job of surprising me with flowers. Here’s a shot from my Valentine’s bouquet:

My birthday is February 13. Conveniently, Valentine’s Day is February 14. So, since those days both fell on a weekend this year, Mike decided to fly up and visit me. While I was frantically running through the aisles of Target just minutes before Mike’s plane was supposed to land, I did manage to remember two things: my sign and my camera.

… and my cute shoes:

When I finally got to the terminal at the airport, I couldn’t figure out how to hold the sign and the camera at the same time, so I simply put the sign on floor posted it like this:

The funny thing is, about 30 people stop to read the sign as they exited their planes, and they laughed at the excited girl holding a camera. After several days of delayed flights, and much anticipation, Mike finally arrived.

At the moment I took this shot, he was turning his head to see me waiting…. with my sign.

While we didn’t have many days together, we did manage to have a snow ball fight. A back-lit and photographed snow ball fight, that is.

With a love like this, I think 22 is going to be a great age!
