I first met Ben when we were both freshman in college participating in Air Force ROTC. Our interaction for the next three years was comprised of deadlines, to-do lists, and really long briefings. It wasn’t until I met Katie last fall at their love shots shoot that I saw the more laid back fun-loving side of Ben.

Fast forward about 5 months. I overheard Ben mentioning that he was recently engaged, so I new some new photos were in order. While we were shooting, Ben explained the diamond in the engagement ring was from his grandmother’s jewelry– an heirloom!

Here are some shots from the couple’s favorite park in Oakwood:

Katie– I love your red shoes!

The couple plan to get married at the end of the summer in Chicago. Best wishes Ben and Katie!

Um, I would like the shredded wheat for breakfast, hold the mini.

I realized that out of the twenty different types of shredded wheat made by Post, this is one created for giants. I mean, I’m six feet tall, but still. Next time I think I’ll just reach for the Quaker Oats instead.

Although just inches apart, it was evident that they were already experiencing the emotion of impending separation. Joel would be leaving Emily for tech school in 4 short days, and they were savoring every last minute together.

I met Emily in high school, and recently had the pleasure of meeting Joel at their love shots shoot in downtown Fairborn. Our phone conversation before the shoot went something like this:

Emily: “Where should we shoot at?”
Me: “What about downtown Fairborn?”
Emily: “Um… the street with halloween stores everywhere?”
Me: “Yes…trust me, I think this will work!”

(Joel & Emily – I think the location worked well!)

It was fun celebrating their love at the shoot… and (bonus) getting to take photos with the trees in bloom! Here are some of the highlights:

When I saw this picture upload on my computer, I started hopping up and down in my chair. I love their expressions!

Best of luck Joel and Emily! Skype will be your new best friend…join the club!

In the past several weeks I’ve been behind on posting photos because of a series of really bad excuses. I’m happy to say that after a 24 hour travel time home across 4 time zones that I’m back from Alaska. I spent spring break visiting my fiance Michael up in the very chilly city of North Pole. Interesting fact: that city celebrates Christmas year round! In fact, all of the light poles and other circular industrial statues along the roads are painted in white and red stripes… hello giant candy-canes?!

Below are some photos that Michael and I took during the trip. The first, was taken at the Santa Claus House, where all United States children’s letters go when they are addressed to “Santa.” Take note of the Shootsac that was my trusty companion on the long plane rides– and even a half mile sprint down the terminal.

The next photo is a glimpse of the ice sculpting championships that were occurring during my visit. People come from around the globe to North Pole, Alaska to carve massive ice sculptures out of single and multi blocks of ice.

I love it when Michael takes my photo! He snaps a lot of exposures, but I enjoy the way he eggs me on to pose more! Also, a close up of my Shootsac that has yet to be decorated with a flashy cover.

Finally, a view of the mountains at sunset as we were heading back from the Chena Hot Springs Resort , where we went swimming.
