After moving 14 times for the military, raising two great kids (I’m biased), and enduring several year-long deployment separations, my parents recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. In the 22 years I’ve been alive, it always amazes me how my parents treat one another with the utmost care and consideration of the other person’s needs before their own.

My dad, Bill, was a college football player and stands at 6′ 5″. My mom, Lisa, was a cheerleader and is not exactly that tall.  My sister Lauren and I have many memories of our parents going on dates and weekend getaways, and it has always been obvious that they enjoy one another’s company.

Mom and Dad – Thank you for letting me take these pictures of you. It’s time to update the pictures in your living room frames!

Here’s some of my favorites:

Bonus! Michael was there second-shooting with me, and took these fun pictures of me in action.

Mike and I were shopping yesterday to find the perfect pair of shoes for him to wear to our wedding next year. We went to about a dozen stores asking the sales associates if they had “shoes with tassels” on them. Then we finally found our holy grail shoe by  Cole Haan. Michael immediately found his size, slipped the loafer on over his socks, and began parading the shoe around the store.  The strong burgundy color and smooth leather finish grabbed the attention of the other shoppers as we stood in the dress shoe aisle.

Funny to note,  this pair of shoes, like all other men’s formal designer dress shoes, has an all wood sole except for the the rear part of the heal. This design encourages the wearer to walk with a straight back and good posture,  otherwise the wearer would slip and loose balance because of the wooden sole.

Additionally yesterday we started scanning gifts for our registry. For some reason, it was way more fun to use the laser scanner than it was to make decisions about house-ware items we will be using for the next couple decades. I have a feeling we are not the first couple to enjoy the scanning process…

Happy 3 day weekend!

Last month Michael and I were shopping for miscellaneous wedding things at the mall, when we passed the Men’s department at Elder-Beerman. In an instant, Mike turned his head and visually scanned the model poster on the wall. Then he spotted it. A black Calvin Klein jacket, front-zip, with pockets that lay smooth on both sides.

He sprinted over to the clothing rack, spent 15 minutes looking in the mirror talking about the wonderful characteristics of the jacket, and then slowly put it away and left the store.

A month later, we were walking past the same store when Mike saw the same black jacket hanging on display once more. After a stressful time at work, this was the most excited I had seen him act all day. He walked around the store parading the jacket for 10 more minutes, after which I took the hanger to the counter and bought him the jacket. I couldn’t resist…it is a rare occasion when a guy gets excited about new clothes. Oh Calvin Klein, even men can enjoy retail therapy!

Here’s a shot of that glorious outerwear:

For many years now, I have adored the work of Kelly Moore, who is an amazing photographer from Louisiana. Her work demonstrates a wide variety of lighting and color techniques, and recently, she created a bag with the same stylish quality.

After years of ugly black camera and media equipment bags ruling the market, Kelly Moore created the Kelly Moore Bag. The Kelly Moore Bag is a fresh take on the old black bags, available in a spectrum of colors that women actually like to wear, such as pink, purple, red, yellow, and teal.

With adjustable inner dividers, a variety of different camera bodies, lenses, hoods, video cameras, books, snacks, water bottles, and other can’t-live-without-them items can be kept snugly protected and separated. It’s perfect for photographers, moms who like to keep things separated in their purse, media professionals, and anyone who has an appreciation for fashion and design.

To suit different size needs, Kelly created both the Kelly Moore Original Bag (first image below), and the smaller Hobo Bag (second image below).

I will be ordering my own KM Bag soon (who said a gift has to be from someone else?), but this bag would be a perfect present for any girl! Don’t worry guys, Kelly hasn’t forgotten you. Check out the Kelly Moore Bag site and click on the Kelly Boy bag, which sports more masculine colors and design.

Enjoy!

Click on the Kelly Moore banner at the bottom of my blog if you’re interested in browsing the Kelly Moore Bag store!

As if getting letters in the mail isn’t exciting enough, this week I received a sample wedding book that I sent to my printer about a month ago. I slowly opened the album case after tearing into the packaging. The crisp smooth leather was soft to the touch, and every page was delicately placed in perfect order. The rounded edges and the magazine layout provided even more joy to someone who is absolutely committed to clean presentation.

Attention to my brides-to-be: this is the new book included in all my wedding packages. I know you’re going to love it!

On a personal note, this week have been CRAZY as I have been moving. I’m lucky that this wedding album made it my new address after I suffered a few lost letters.

I noticed this week that after I put all my belongings into medium brown boxes, I feel the sudden urge to redecorate  my new home in a completely different color palette and style. My inner design aficionado is excited, but my wallet is not.

Watch for home design updates and photos coming in a couple months!

For now, enjoy some images of the flush-mount  wedding book:
