I’ve been absent from the online world for a couple weeks, but not without reason, I promise! I’ve just moved into my new home, and have been wearing my “interior designer” hat for the past several days. After about 50 misc address changes, an abundance of medium brown moving boxes, and practically no sleep, my move is almost completed. I just need to hang a few more pictures and art installations on the walls before I reveal some of the other rooms in my house. (I’ll share those in a follow up post.)

Here’s a preview of my bathroom, kitchen, and part of the living room, with some thoughts about each design layout:

I like clean, modern bathrooms- I stay away from flower prints and other cliche motifs. Here I chose a geometric circular print. I’m also excited about goat’s milk soap from Maine that my future mother-in-law sends me on occasion. It cleans my hands without leaving a filmy soap residue. Goodbye softsoap.

I Tweeted about this pair of prints for my kitchen last week, and here they are! I like the neo-new images of a bicycle and a typewriter.

And my favorite and only completed room:

I got inspiration from a wide variety of magazines and design blogs for this layout. However, most of the elements were not purchased at the same time, so together the room provides a touch that is uniquely me. Now every time I walk in the front door of my house, it truly feels like home.
