Straight from the horse’s mouth. The internet says it’s an idiom. Something of which I remember vaguely from high school English class. In short, this saying implies that information being relayed is from a dependable or authoritative source. Wikipedia says it originated in racing circles in the early 20th century, as a way of claiming to have a tip on which horse would most likely win.
Photography to me is the best method I’ve ever found to portray the world in the way I envision it in my mind. Further, I try to create more beauty and more personality than someone would see at first glance. When I’m photographing animals especially, it takes a bit of mental whimsy for good pre-visualization.
For example, I tried to imagine a talking horse, like one on a Disney movie, when I was photographing this horse. Don’t laugh, but the carousel horses from Mary Poppins came to mind. Why yes, Mr. Horse, I would love to take a ride around the track made of chalk.
Another well known idiom is that a picture is worth a thousand words. But, don’t take my word for it- that came straight from the horse’s mouth.
