The first time he saw her, he thought she was a math professor’s teaching assistant. “Wow,” he thought to himself, “I wonder how that professor has such a cute girl help him with his class.” Little did Kevin know, but Melody wasn’t a teaching assistant. She was a PhD student who just happened to have blonde hair, blue eyes, and love the color pink.

Several weeks later, Melody and Kevin met up again at a party.  In conversation with other guys, Kevin mentioned that some of the civilian girls at school were very attractive. Melody overheard his statement and laughed. Little did she know the two of them would develop affection for each other.

Over the next couple of weeks, Kevin and Melody began watching movies together, baking together, and working out at the gym together. They even began attending a Bible study together.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Kevin and Melody both separately before they were “Kevin and Melody.” They recently asked me to take some Love Shots of them since they were dressed up for Kevin’s military banquet. Take a look at some of my favorites:

It all started with the four of us piling into the car and heading up the side of a mountain on an icy road. Once we made it to a level part of the winding road, we jumped out of the car and began having fun. Luckily, no bears or moose interrupted our shoot.

Take a look and enjoy!

I’ve know Jen since high school, and I was a bridesmaid in her wedding. For the past 5 years we have had a Friday night girl’s night every two or three weeks. Her husband Jeff went to college with Mike, so we have all become close friends. I shot Jen and Jeff’s dating and engagement photos over a year ago. Let’s just say they are comfortable in front of my camera!

Jen and Jeff are getting ready to move to Florida in March, so I decided to surprise them with some new portraits. Plus, on a beautiful 45 degree February day in Ohio, there is no reason not to be outside enjoying the weather. Here are some of my favorites:

Shortly after my sophomore year in high school, the Silvey family moved across the street from my family. My sister and I often babysat Ben and Jake while Dave and Maggie went out on a date. When I was in college, their family moved to Texas, but recently moved back to Ohio. In the past several years, the boys have grown several feet taller and are now almost old enough to drive. (Just kidding, Maggie!)

We decided to celebrate winter and have a snowball fight lifestyle shoot outside. Maggie and Dave also recently celebrated their anniversary, so I took some love shots at the same time.

Here’s a glimpse at the fun day we had:

The Smiths are some of my favorite people on the planet. No really. I’ve spend Christmas with them for the past two years, and I am absolutely blessed to be inheriting them as in-laws. Mike’s older brother, Todd, is pictured below with his wife Tracy and their two daughters Rachael and Katie. We did what I like to call a hybrid session… a mix of family shots and love shots of the couple without the kids. I believe it is important to celebrate love and family throughout all stages of life, not just early on with engagement and wedding photos.

Gearing up for the family group shots, everyone had to release their funny faces first:

Sasha, the fifth member of the family, was engaging me in a stare down that was inevitably going to end in someone getting scratched.

Three cheers for family!
